CoLEARN is a program created by NCTE using NCTE's vast library of materials and resources as the backbone of professional readings. CoLEARN is open to both member and nonmember of NCTE; however, nonmember CoLEARN participants do not receive member benefits, such as discounts on NCTE products and services, voting rights or a subscription to the Council Chronicle.

Instead of the prescriptive "one-size-fits-all" program of many online courses, CoLEARN is based upon inquiry learning and reflective practice. CoLEARN encourages participants to investigate their own practices and classrooms as a basis for their professional development. Instead of following a scripted regimen, you can decide what makes sense for you and your school or district and design a program around those needs.
The team CoLEARN Writing Initiative options with 12 usernames and passwords costs $1500 and an Individual Writing Initiative CoLEARN costs $150. The Team CoLEARN Reading Initiative option with 12 usernames costs $2000 and an Individual Reading Initiative costs $200.
You can access CoLEARN by logging into your account with your user id and password, then visit your My NCTE page. You will then click on the CoLEARN logo on the right side of the page to access the program.
