WHILE WEB SURFING I CAME ACROSS YOUR BLOG ON BOOKS TO FILMS. AS WE KNOW SOME BOOKS GET MADE INTO SUPERB FILMS & VICE VERSA & THEN AGAIN SOME DON'T. BUT I THINK THE CONCEPT MAKES FOR A GREAT CONCEPT IN THE ENGLISH CLASSROOM.

ONE OF THE BEST LITERATURE SERIES THAT I FELT WAS VERY WELL-WRITTEN & EASY TO UNDERSTAND WAS THAT OF AUTHOR JOHN JAKES BICENTENNIAL SERIES. I MAINTAIN THIS COLLECTION IN MY OWN PERSONAL LIBRARY. THIS SERIES FIRST OF ALL IS NOT BORING-IT IS INTRIGUING. IT ENCOMPASSES THE PERIODS FROM THE PRE-REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD UP THROUGH WORLD WAR II. IT IS AN EXCELLENT MEDIUM TO LEARN AMERICAN HISTORY AS WELL. THE PLOTS ARE SUPERB & THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS RICH. AND IT IS VERY READABLE. IT WAS NOT THE LEAST BIT TERSE OR BORING. IN RECENT YEARS IT APPEARS MANY ORGANIZATIONS HAVE BEEN OVEREMPHASIZING THIS MULTICULURALISM AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR OWN U.S. HISTORY. THIS SERIES FOR ME WAS THE BEST IN HISTORICAL FICTION. 2 OF THE BOOKS WERE MADE INTO MADE-FOR-TV FILMS. I THINK THE ENTIRE SERIES WOULD HAVE MADE A GREAT MINI-SERIES OR LONGTERM TELEVISION PROJECT.

www.SpellingCity.com = Readwritethink.com pointed me towards this amazing website last year and it immediately became the one site that the students use most often. Not only free, it actually solves a real problem: helping students study for each week's spelling test. I put up all my spelling lists and the kids actually practice and test themselves. SpellingCity.com is the most amazing resource online. Thank you Readwritethink.com

I love this lesson plan. I did the lesson with my grade 12 reading classes. It's on pbwiki under readinglink. http://readinglink.pbwiki.com/ A Collaboration of Sites and Sounds: Using Wikis to Catalog Protest Songs (S) asks students to critique and analyze multimedia texts through collaborative research and online writing.
